Blinds are usually ignored during our day to day cleaning routines. But when not given the right care or cleaning, these popular window coverings; begin to harbor dust and grime. Leaving them at best unappealing. These may even be our homes dirtiest secret. Have no worries try one of these solutions to help restore them to their better days.
To give your wood or faux wood blind a good scrub. All you need is a bucket of warm water and a little dish soap. Next, grab your microfiber cloth-or if need be a clean sock. Lightly dip the cloth in the sudsy water; then wipe off each slat. For actual wooden blinds you’ll want to use only a small amount of plain water or furniture polish applied directly to the cloth or the sock. Keep in mind, you never want to saturate the wood, this will damage the coating. Then with a clean dry cloth, dry to finish.
Fabric blinds don’t need to provide much in a way of the deep cleaning, as fabric blinds don’t show dirt as obviously as wood or vinyl. But if you notice a small stain, stain, simply blot it with a cloth that’s been dampened with soapy water, and allow the material to dry. Or you can always take them to your local dry cleaner.
Here is the big one. Vinyl Blinds. There are a variety of ways to go about cleaning these. First, you can try giving them a bath. Fill the tub with soapy warm water, and let the blinds soak for a few minutes. Next go over each slat with a sponge. Rinse, with water and remove anything that may be lingering.
Another solution is to rub them down with water and vinegar. Combine equal parts warm water and vinegar in a bowl. Wet a rag, and wipe the front and back simultaneously. Youc an also put a sock on your hand and rub each slat between your thumb and fingers.
